Contraindications
Kambo is very safe when given by a properly trained practitioner. However, there are some conditions for which Kambo is contraindicated. This is not an exhaustive list so its important to consult a properly trained and skilled practitioner if you have any concerns. Suitability for Kambo may occasionally depend the constitution of the person receiving Kambo.
You Cannot Take Kambo if:
- Have serious heart problems
- Have had a Stroke
- Have had a Brain Hemorrhage
- Have had Aneurysm or blood clots
- Have Addison’s Disease
- Have current and severe Epilepsy
- Are pregnant or are breastfeeding an infant under 6 months of age
- Are taking immune suppressants for organ transplants
- Lack the mental capacity to make decisions about Kambo
- Have serious mental health issues (excluding PTSD, Depression or Anxiety)
- Are taking medication for Low Blood Pressure (however, High Blood Pressure is safe)
- Are recovering from major surgery
- Are undergoing Chemotherapy, Radiotherapy (Must wait 4 weeks)
- Are under 18.

Some precautions need to be taken into account:
- If you are diabetic, you will need to inform me.
- Liver Flushes / Colonics / Enemas – allow 3 days either side of Kambo.
- Water fasting – allow 7 days before and after Kambo.
- Sauna – allow 2 days before and after Kambo.
- Sweat-lodges – allow 3 days before and after.
- Active drug or alcohol addictions – need to be discussed.
- Immune-suppressants for auto-immune disorders.
- Bufo (Toad medicine) – Allow 6-8 weeks after taking Bufo. Taking Kambo before Bufo is fine.
Please notify me if you are taking any supplements, medications, herbs, diet-aids or sleeping aids. You should allow 24-48 hours free from taking most types of medications or supplements.
It’s necessary to fast 8 hours before but do avoid drinking before the treatment starts. However, a herbal tea no more than 2 hours before is fine.
